Pinnacle at Gen Con 2010
Are you going to Gen Con this year? Pinnacle certainly is, and we'd love to see you!
Since there's always so much to see and do at Gen Con, we wanted to make sure you knew where we are, when we'll be there, and what we've got in store. Check out the list below, make your plans, and catch us* in Indy!
*Why do I suddenly feel like a Pokemon?
Exciting Pinnacle Products
Prerelease Products: Want to buy something so new it won't be in stores for weeks or months? Need something with that factory-fresh smell? We've got you covered. Gen Con will mark the first public appearance of the Savage Worlds version of a Frank Chadwick classic — Space 1889: Red Sands. The new Deadlands Reloaded rulebooks (the Player's Guide and the Marshal's Handbook) will also be available. All three of these books are limited prerelease quantities—when they're gone, they're gone, so don't dawdle!
Sorry, but convention prerelease books cannot be used to fill preorder bundle orders.
Savage Worlds Starter Kit: Have you ever wished you could get everything you need to play Savage Worlds in one handy box? Well, now you can. The Savage Worlds Starter Kit comes in a handsome simulated wooden box (a unique import from our Polish-language licensee Wydawnictwo Gramel) and contains a Savage Worlds: Explorer's Edition, the oversized Savage Worlds Action Deck, a set of polyhedral dice, a custom Wild Die (from the Deadlands Dice Set), a set of mini poker chips (for indicators, bennies, or Deadlands Fate Chips), and cut-and-use templates—a $40 value for only $20! We have a limited number of these box sets—first come, first served.
Space 1889 and Other Custom Bennies: Be the first to see the brand-new Space 1889 Bennies designed to complement any Space 1889: Red Sands game. You can also find all our other custom bennies and Fate Chips at our booth. These products are only available at the show or directly from the Pinnacle web store at Studio 2 Publishing.
Exciting Pinnacle People and Events
Exhibitor Hall Booth and Demos: Drop by and see us in the Exhibitor Hall at Booth 320. We'll have the full line of Pinnacle products available, including all the newest releases. We'll have Pinnacle staffers and contributors dropping in and out all the time, so this may be your big chance to meet and talk to Shane Hensley, Clint Black, Chaos Steve, Evil Mike, Jodi Black, or Joel Kinstle. Chaos Steve and Evil Mike will be running Savage Worlds demos through the whole show, so if you're new to the game or need something clarified, be sure to stop in. Exhibitor Hall hours are Thursday 10:00am–6:00pm (9:00am–6:00pm for Press and VIGs), Friday and Saturday 10:00am–6:00pm, and Sunday 10:00am–4:00pm.
- Pinnacle Seminar: Our annual Gen Con Pinnacle Seminar (in which we discuss what's up with Pinnacle, the licensees, and Savage Worlds in general) will be held Saturday, 3:00–4:00pm, in the Marriott's Indiana Ballroom B. We were exciting enough at Origins for one of our fans (Ogma from the Pinnacle Forum) to videotape the whole thing. Imagine how exciting it will be at Gen Con...
Savage Saturday Night: Savage Saturday Night is 8:00pm–12:00 midnight in the Hyatt Network room. The schedule says we're sold out—apparently four hours of concentrated Savage Worlds is a popular concept—but don't let that stop you. We'll take all comers, and you don't even need tickets. If you bought tickets, be sure to bring them for a secret special bonus. If you're interested in running a game at Savage Saturday Night, you still can, and we'd be happy to have you. Drop Evil Mike or Chaos Steve a note and let them know what you're up to and what table would be best. Otherwise, just show up and have fun!

Shane and the Zombie Pirates!
Our own Shane Hensley has just finished a brand new computer game called Zombie Pirates. (That just sounds like a Shane game, doesn’t it?) Shane will be showing the game at the Pinnacle/Studio2 booth at GenCon and handing out an awesome Zombie Pirates comic book, written by Shane with art by Richard Clark. Shane and the Dust Devils will also be at PAX in Seattle in September.
So what’s the game about? Shane says, "Zombie Pirates features the adventures of Captain Smilin' Jack O'Hurlihan and his friends, Esmeralda and Dr. Theopolis. (Like I wouldn’t have a mad scientist in there?) A terrible event gave rise to 'Gruesome George,' who is scouring the Shimmering Seas looking for his lost love, giving rise to all manner of monsters in his wake. But there’s an even worse scourge out there—the Red Widow! What is her secret? Can you survive the Great Hurlpool? Will Smilin’ Jack realize he first has to save the world to keep plundering it?"
You can find out more about Zombie Pirates at Dust Devil Studios' web site!
Deadlands Marshal's Handbook Available at Gen Con—Preorder Bundle and PDF Available Now!
There will be a limited supply of prerelease copies of the Deadlands Reloaded Marshal's Handbook available at Origins and Gen Con. This new printing of Deadlands Reloaded has all the GM-related information collected into its own separate book—players don't have to pay for the extra material, and they can't go pokin' their noses where they don't belong. Advance copies of the Deadlands Player's Guide will also be available at Gen Con, so you can get the whole set!
Can't make it to Gen Con? You might want to pick up the Deadlands Reloaded Marshal's Handbook Preorder Bundle. You get the PDF immediately, the printed book (sent to you as soon as full stocks are available), and $10.00 discount! Full stocks are expected in October. As with all our preorder bundles, the new edition of the Deadlands Reloaded Marshal's Handbook PDF is also available now.
Don't forget, the Deadlands Reloaded Player's Guide Preorder Bundle and the Deadlands Reloaded Player's Guide PDF are also both available.
Sorry, but convention prerelease books cannot be used to fill preorder bundle orders.
Clint Black on Troll in the Corner!
The fine folks at Troll in the Corner seem to have gone Savage Worlds-crazy lately, and that's just fine with us. They've added an interview with our own Clint Black, Core Rules Brand Manager to their overview and review of Savage Worlds. Keep it comin'.

ENnie Awards Savage Worlds Nominees
As you might've noticed on our forums, the ENnie Awards nominations are out, and there's joy to be had in the Savage world:
ENnies voting opens July 16, and I strongly encourage you all to vote for your favorites.

Deadlands Update Materials
Wonder what's been changed in the Deadlands: Reloaded second printing? Have Classic Deadlands materials you want to use? Well, you've come to the right Tuesday Update, pardner! Read on for the details.
- Second Printing Additions: If you've got the first printing of Deadlands: Reloaded, you probably want to know what's changed in the second printing. Aside from splitting it into two separate books to help save you some dinero, not a whole whoppin' lot. What has changed, though, is detailed in the Deadlands: Reloaded Additions PDF, available free from our Downloads page. While we'd be happy to sell you a couple more books, all you need to keep current with your existing Deadlands: Reloaded book is this handy free PDF.
- Deadlands Conversion Notes: Two more sets of John Billings' conversion notes are out so you can use your existing Deadlands Classic materials in your current Deadlands: Reloaded game. Visit our Downloads page for conversion notes for Ghostriders in the Sky and Independence Day.
Savage Worlds Gets Another Blog Highlight
Troll in the Corner published an overview and review of Savage Worlds today, along with lots of expanded coverage from Origins. While it's always nice to be featured, it's especially nice to featured so favorably in a site that covers such a wide range of games!

Origins Wrap-Up and Retrospective
I just got back from the Origins Game Fair, and boy are my arms tired!* As always, the show was a lot of fun. Days of meeting fans, sharing the game with new players, playing games, and talking Savage Worlds—seriously, how can you beat that?
*Yes, it's an old joke and not well applied, but I "got" to help load and unload the truck, so it's true.
Savage Saturday Night: Savage Saturday Night was packed and one of the highlights of the show for any Savage fan. There were seven tables of roleplayers and a big spread of Deadlands Showdown in the back—over fifty participants in all. Our thanks to all our GMs (Evil Mike's two Deadlands Showdowns, Chaos Steve's 1940s supers, Dave Olson's Realms of Cthulhu, Heath Medlin's Brainwashed, Michael Reitz' pulp game, and those whose names I didn't get) and players for making Savage Saturday Nights the great time they are!
Demos: Our booth was hopping throughout the show with demos of the Sticks & Stones card game (run by Chuck Quilty, the pictured caveman and the game's illustrator) and Savage Worlds demos by Evil Mike and Chaos Steve. Nothing beats watching someone turn into a Savage Worlds fan right in front of your eyes!
- Pinnacle Seminar: Our annual Origins Pinnacle Seminar (in which we discuss what's up with Pinnacle, the licensees, and Savage Worlds in general) was well attended. Rather than recap here, one of our fans (Ogma from the Pinnacle Forum) has the whole thing on video and will be posting it for your enjoyment soon. Check the seminar forum topic for updates.
Exhibitor Hall: We had a great time in the dealer room, and our placement couldn't be beat. You could find Pinnacle directly across from the Con Vixens, pictured here with happy Pinnacle writer John Goff. All that aside, the exhibitor hall seemed to be larger than last year with even more manufacturers.
- Origins Awards: In a bizarre turn of events that suggests an alien-influenced CIA conspiracy, the three Savage Worlds nominees didn't sweep the awards. It was, of course, an honor to be nominated at all, much less three times (Deluge in the Game-Related Book category, Weird War II in the Roleplaying Game Supplement category, and Ken Hite's Day After Ragnarok in the Roleplaying Game Supplement category). I'd like to heartily congratulate all of this year's Origins Awards Winners.
Neat Find: The neatest thing I hadn't seen before was Das Spiel Unker's ammo counters. They're wooden clips and cylinders matched up to your preferred weapon with brass for the markers. They've got six-shooters, clips, Gatling weapons, machine guns...even the LeMat pistol/shotgun!

Pinnacle Goes to Origins
The Origins Game Fair starts this week, and it's going to be a mighty busy time for us.
The Pinnacle Booth: Come and see us in the Exhibit Hall at Booth 523, almost smack-dab in the center of the room. We'll be there Thursday-Saturday 10:00-6:00, and Sunday 10:00-4:00.
Demo Games: Drop by the booth for hourly demos of Savage Worlds and the Sticks & Stones card game. These are great introductions for anyone new to these games!
Pinnacle Attendees: Interested in meeting a Pinnacle staffer? We'll have John Goff, Evil Mike, Chaos Steve, and Joel Kinstle on hand. If you spot any of us at the booth or roaming the convention, feel free to introduce yourself.
Origins Awards: Pinnacle is proud to have two entries on the Origins Awards Nominee List—Deluge (John Goff's novelization of the Deadlands Plot Point Campaign The Flood) in the Game-Related Book category and Weird War II in the Roleplaying Game Supplement category. I encourage all attendees to vote for your favorites in all the categories.
Pinnacle Products at Origins: Prerelease copies of the Deadlands Reloaded Player's Guide (available online as a PDF or as a preorder bundle) will be available for the first time anywhere on earth! You can also find products normally available only on the web, including the new Necessary Evil Bennies and Slipstream Bennies.
What's Up at Pinnacle Seminar: Join us and the attending licensees Saturday at 3:00 for an update on the who, what, why, when, and where of Savage Worlds. Check your on-site program for the location.
Savage Saturday Night!: Last, but definitely not least, join us for the game extravaganza known as Savage Saturday Night! Come to Room D234 Saturday night at 7:00 and see the largest gathering of Savage Worlds player at the convention.
Clockworks' First Year
Clockworks, the webcomic based on Shawn Gaston's Savage Worlds campaign, turns one year old this week and hits the 100-mark on Friday. Festivities include the introduction of the Clockworks Test Drive, a free PDF to introduce you to playing in the Clockworks setting! Check the Clockworks site for full details and other activities.
Savage Foes of Kane
Have you been wondering if The Savage Foes of Solomon Kane is the right book for you? Visit the Game Geeks and listen to Kurt Wiegel's review to hear his opinion.

Deadlands Player's Guide to Be at Origins, Preorder Bundle and PDF Available Now!
There will be a limited supply of prerelease copies of the Deadlands Reloaded Player's Guide available at Origins and Gen Con. This new printing of Deadlands Reloaded has all the player-related information collected into one separate book so you don't have to buy Marshal's materials if you don't need 'em. Don't fret overmuch, prerelease copies of the Marshal's Guide will be available at Gen Con to round out the set.
If you want to get your hands on a new Deadlands Player's Guide but can't make it to Origins or Gen Con, the Deadlands Reloaded Player's Guide Preorder Bundle is probably your best bet. You get the PDF immediately, and the printed book will be sent to you as soon as full stocks are available. That's right—an immediate PDF. We've eliminated the delay on the web store for bundle PDFs. Full stocks are expected in September. As with prior preorder bundles, the new edition of the Deadlands Reloaded Player's Guide PDF is also available now.
Sorry, but convention prerelease books cannot be used to fill preorder bundle orders.
Weird War II Vehicle Counters
Is there anything better than imaginarily fighting for your country, and is there any place more perfect for it than your table? The answer is clearly "No!" But if you've been plagued—as I have been—by a lack of representative tokens for Allied and Axis forces alike, now is a time for joy. Our own inimitable Jordan Peacock has created a sheet of Weird War II Vehicle Counters for us all.
As is so often the case, those counters are available for free on our downloads page.

Deluge Updates
Deluge, John Goff's novelization of the Deadlands Plot Point Campaign The Flood, is now available in PDF form. After nearly a year-long dry spell, the flood's come again!
Deluge is also a 2010 Origins Awards Nominee in the Game-Related Book category. Be sure to vote your conscience and beliefs (by which I mean "vote for Deluge," of course) at the 2010 Origins Game Fair.
 Bring Back Bomber Bombshells
To commemorate the recent Memorial Day and anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy—and to make your desktop a warmer, more welcoming sight—we've turned the UK and US bomber nose art from the Weird War II Bennies into Weird War II wallpapers. Our special thanks to Cheyenne for the art and Savage fan Michal Smaga for the wallpaper conversions.
Don't forget that Weird War II is also a 2010 Origins Awards Nominee in the Roleplaying Game Supplement category. Since you'll be voting for Deluge anyway, I encourage you to vote for Weird War II while you're at it.
And So Begins the War of the Dead
Daring Entertainment has begun the year of the War of the Dead—a zombie apocalypse campaign with more materials presented every week. The introduction takes characters from their happy lives through the outbreak into a world ravaged by living dead!
Visit the War of the Dead site for more details on release schedules and discount offers.
More Old School Fantasy from Reality Blurs
Darkness Over Keryhk Nohr, Reality Blurs' second addition to their Old School Fantasy line-up, is now available. If you miss the feel of the old fantasy box sets, but really don't want to go back to the elf as a class, the Old School Fantasy line may be just what you're looking for.

 You Can't Escape the Past
Have you ever wished you could easily use the time-tested creepiness of Deadlands Classic adventures in your Deadlands Reloaded games? Well, today's your lucky day, partner! Conversion notes for Comin' Round the Mountain (the adventure in the Classic Marshal's Handbook) and the Dime Novel Perdition's Daughter are now on the Pinnacle downloads page.
But it doesn't stop there. Not at all. If you listen real close, you can hear the rumble of a whole herd of conversion notes getting closer. Watch your step, amigo.
Weird Wars Need Soldiers, Too
Every war is made of soldiers, even the weird ones. So, right between Memorial Day and the upcoming anniversary of D-Day, we're giving you some men of your own to fight the good fight. Pregenerated characters for Weird War II are available on the Pinnacle downloads page. The provided squad is American Army, but could easily be adjusted to any Allied Army or Marines.
With the coming of summer's patriotic holidays, you can expect more Weird War II materials, so watch this space closely!
Pinnacle Invades ConCarolinas
It's not too late to come see us at ConCarolinas this weekend (June 4-6). Clint Black, Matt Cutter, and Joel Kinstle will be there, some fine forum folks (like good ol' Pepster) will be there, and there's a whole passel of Savage Worlds gaming, including a Savage Saturday Night. If you need more convincing, check out the ConCarolinas web site or the Pinnacle Forum.
